How much does an electrician cost in York?
Hour Electric uses simple hourly booking pricing. A one-hour visit is £89, shown before you book and charged after the visit. If the work needs it and your electrician has availability, each additional 30 minutes is £35, agreed with you on the day. Materials are charged separately where required.
When do I pay?
After the visit. You add a card when you book so the appointment is confirmed, but nothing is charged until your electrician has been. The visit, plus any extra time or materials you agreed on the day, is then taken from that card.
Who actually carries out the work?
One of our selected local electrical contractors. Hour Electric arranges the booking, manages your payment and looks after the customer experience; the contractor sends a qualified electrician and is responsible for the electrical work it carries out. Once your booking is confirmed, we tell you which company is coming, and before the day, who to expect. You never have to find, compare or chase electricians yourself.
Can I give the electrician several jobs?
Yes. Add everything you’d like looked at when you book, most important first. Your electrician works through the list in your order during the booked hour; two or three small jobs usually fit, and anything left over can be added as extra time on the day or booked as another visit.
What can be completed in an hour?
As a guide, two or three small jobs: a like-for-like socket or switch swap takes around 15 to 20 minutes, a light fitting 20 to 30, and fitting a new socket or tracing a fault can take most of the hour on its own. Access, the state of the existing wiring and whether parts are to hand all make a difference. We can’t promise a set number of jobs, but you’ll see a warning when you book if your list looks like more than an hour, and nothing extra is charged without your agreement.
Are materials included?
No. Materials are charged separately where required. Your electrician will confirm any additional cost with you before fitting parts.
